The National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) at Iowa State University and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) sponsored a series of activities focused on the future of the foreign language profession, entitled New Visions in Action. These activities include an invitational planning meeting for 40 persons (1999), followed by a national priorities conference (2000), and the ACTFL conference in the year 2000. Each of these events will involve an increasingly broad scope of participants in the dialogue.
