STARTALK Mentoring, Leadership, and Change in K-12 Chinese Teaching

The National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center will offer a STARTALK summer institute from June 14–June 20, 2009 on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, Iowa. Practicing K-12 Chinese teachers with strong leadership potential are encouraged to apply for the institute. This institute will equip and empower teachers to assume expanding leadership roles in their districts ands states, model best practices in the classroom, and exert influence at the regional and national levels. MORE

 

A 5-day Japanese class for students who will enter 5th and 6th grades in August 2009 will be offered by the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center on the Iowa State University campus June 15–19, 2009 from 10:30—11:30 a.m. The class will be taught by Jessica Haxhi, award-winning Japanese teacher. Other language teachers participating in a professional development institute will observe the classes.
