Day 2: Saturday, June 29, 2002

Dr. Donato begins the day by reviewing on poster board the ideas participants’ shared for their action research projects on Day 1 before hearing from the rest of the group.

Elaine Phillips (Texas) introduces ideas for her action research project on the impact of professional development by examining the relevancy of training on the national student standards to teachers’ classroom practices. Frieda Robins (New York) takes notes as Mark Warford (New York) listens.

Mark provides input on the design of Elaine’s action research project.

Frieda Robins (New York) discusses her ideas for an action research project on the impact on later language learning of children learning Hebrew in a preschool immersion program.

Dr. Donato provides guidance on how to develop a plan for the action research project.

Dave Adkins (Iowa) refers to his textbook as he writes his action research plan.

Dr. Donato provides input to Heather Hendry (Washington DC) on her action research plan in a one-on-one conference at the end of the day, as he did for all participants.
