Session conducted by TWI Project Coordinator Kaptain on effective strategies in frontloading vocabulary for doing a read-aloud in a Spanish Two-way Immersion classroom.

All-day workshop conducted by Dr. Kathy Escamilla and organized by TWI Project Coordinator Kaptain. Focus of workshop was on teaching reading and writing in Spanish and effective second-language strategies.

TWI Project Coordinator Kaptain presented a session on ELL needs in Iowa and two-way immersion programming at the Iowa Extension to Families Conference. “Dual Language Programs: Leveling the playing field for linguistically
diverse students”

TWI Project Coordinator Kaptain organized an all-day workshop for TWI teachers around the state on “Learning Centers in a TWI Classroom” with Dr. Lori Norton Meier (ISU) as morning session presenter and Kaptain leading the afternoon session.

Student Oral Proficiency Assessment (SOPA) Training provided by the Center for Applied Linguistics in collaboration with the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. Attended by FLES and TWI teachers for Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese from across the nation.
