ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF PROGRAM:

It is the belief of all stakeholders involved in implementing this Spanish Two-way Immersion program that the following components are an essential part of attaining and maintaining program excellence.

• The program has specific and measurable goals, both at the program level and the student/classroom level.

• The program supports a philosophy of additive bilingualism and equity for all students.

• The program integrates into the larger school context.

• The program is fully supported by administration.

• The program is fully supported by all faculty and staff.

• The program is fully supported by families and the community.

• The curriculum is developmentally appropriate, student-centered, academically rigorous, and integrates language instruction with content instruction.

• The students are held to the same academic content standards as students in the regular education program.
